Arm rest/console lid broke at the hinge. At over $100 my price, I said F all that noise, time to Mexcifix it!
Ta daaa! This thing could survive a hurricane made of fire and earthquakes!

Until your elbow slides back too far and you gouge off a bolt-head-width of skin.

I was thinking the same thing. Some I think they call it “cheese hex head” bolts might be a better idea.

it’s pretty far back. Plus, they aren’t that big. Not worried :]

Looks a bit tacky. I’d use a darker colored carriage bolt without a washer.

semi temp solution, just glad it’s fixed more than anything
Though.... I love all things tacky :]

I mean.... it works. Just paint the bolts black and few would notice.

Got it. I definitely know hot that goes - you work with what you have at hand in the nut and bolt bucket.
But yea for a permanent solution, look into a carriage bolt, maybe with a thin torque washer if needed. Would also save your elbow from hitting sharp edges.

lol, I kind of want then to notice those ugly gold bolts and be like, “wtf m8?” Lol it would funny :]

We have plenty here, i’ll dig through some other day. They are pretty far back from any elbows and and not sharp or tall at all.

AND plastic dip spray the carriage bolt to give it a more pleasing finish.

Id like to throw in the suggestion of chicago screws.

I would have just gotten some epoxy called it a day.

Normally yes lol. But this thing opens 180° into a mini table.

Uly,
I’m flying from the Netherlands (Germany, technically) to the US two weeks from now. To Boston, and I’ll be driving across New England for a week or two. Theoretically I could take the Torchbug with me. Do you know of anyone in that region (preferably Boston) who’d be willing to take the bug?

I can definitely find someone in the area :] I’ll report to you here in the Kinjaverse with an update soon buddy.

I might’ve found someone already; or rather, he’s found me.

EssExTee is rad peeps that is indeed in the area. Not really a user on LaLD statistically but a rad OPPOnaut indeed. I’ll double check if he has LaLD authorship for when he is ready to make yet another legendary TTB post per the rules. I’m sure it will be epic and can’t wait for yours and his :]

You could add me to the list of authors as well then, as I’m not a LaLD author at the moment.
Looking at EssExTe’s location I doubt I’ll be able to drop it off at his place, but we’ll see. Mail is an option as well.
